Sir Henry Norris1525-1601 was a trusted early member of the circle of Elizabeth I, having been assigned to her household when she was at Woodstock. He was knighted in 1566 and made ambassador to France, being replaced by Sir Francis Walsingham in 1570. In 1572 he was ennobled.
