Henry Maine

Sir Henry Maine (1822 - February 3, 1888) was a British jurist and legal historian. He was born in Kelso, Roxburgh, Scotland on August 15, 1822. Maine is best known for his work in comparative law.

His written works include Ancient Law, Village Communities, Early History of Institutions, Dissertation on Early Law and Custom, and International Law.

He died in Cannes, France on February 3, 1988.
