Helmond

Helmond (population 83,000) is a city in the southern Netherlands, in the province of North Brabant, situated on the Aa River and the Zuid-Willemsvaart canal.

The municipality also comprises the following towns, villages and townships: Brouwhuis, Mierlo-Hout, Stiphout.

First settlements in the area were around 1000, and Helmond was granted city rights in approximately 1232.

Helmond is host to the professional football team of Helmond Sport[?].
