Helix is a city located in Umatilla County, Oregon. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 183.

Geography Helix is located at 45°51'3" North, 118°39'30" West (45.850847, -118.658297)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²). 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 183 people, 62 households, and 46 families residing in the city. The population density is 642.3/km² (1,600.5/mi²). There are 68 housing units at an average density of 238.7/km² (594.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 94.54% White, 0.00% African American, 2.19% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.55% from other races, and 2.73% from two or more races. 2.73% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 62 households out of which 48.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.9% are married couples living together, 8.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.2% are non-families. 19.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.95 and the average family size is 3.47.

In the city the population is spread out with 38.8% under the age of 18, 3.8% from 18 to 24, 31.1% from 25 to 44, 14.8% from 45 to 64, and 11.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 30 years. For every 100 females there are 105.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.1 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $32,292, and the median income for a family is $36,250. Males have a median income of $33,750 versus $27,500 for females. The per capita income for the city is $13,338. 13.6% of the population and 14.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 19.2% are under the age of 18 and 6.3% are 65 or older.
