Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 59.9 km² (23.1 mi²). 42.1 km² (16.3 mi²) of it is land and 17.7 km² (6.8 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 29.64% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 878 people, 408 households, and 281 families residing in the township. The population density is 20.8/km² (54.0/mi²). There are 801 housing units at an average density of 19.0/km² (49.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 97.15% White, 0.11% African American, 0.91% Native American, 0.46% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.37% from two or more races. 0.34% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 408 households out of which 19.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.3% are married couples living together, 5.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.1% are non-families. 28.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
