Hej Sloveni

Hej, Sloveni has been the national anthem of Yugoslavia since 1945. The song dates back to the 19th century. It has the same basic melody as Mazurek Dabrowskiego, the national anthem of Poland. Up to 1991, versions of lyrics in Serbian, Croatian, Slovenian and Macedonian were used.

Lyrics:

Hej, Sloveni, jošte živi
Reč naših dedova
Dok za narod srce bije
Njihovih sinova

Živi, živi, duh slovenski
Živećeš vekovma
Zalud preti ponor pakla
Zalud vatra groma

Nek se sada i nad nama
Burom sve raznese
Stena puca, dub se lama
Zemlja nek se trese

Mi stojimo postojano
Kano klisurine
Proklet bio izdajica
Svoje domovine!
