Hay-Pauncefote Treaty

In 1901 the United States and Great Britain signed the Hay-Pauncefote Treaty. This agreement nullified the Clayton-Bulwer Treaty of 1850 in return for guarantee of open passage for any nation through a proposed Central American canal.
