Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 8,946 people, 3,457 households, and 2,302 families residing in the city. The population density is 399.8/km² (1,035.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 96.15% White, 0.97% African American, 0.66% Native American, 0.47% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.39% from other races, and 1.34% from two or more races. 1.41% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
