The
dystopian short story Harrison Bergeron by
Kurt Vonnegut describes a world in which perfect
social equality[?] has been achieved. Unfortunately, this has been achieved by handicapping the most intelligent, athletic or beautiful members of society down to the level of the lowest common denominator. Harrison Bergeron, the title character, has the misfortune to be exceptionally gifted in all three aspects.
