Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 79.1 km² (30.5 mi²). 78.4 km² (30.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.85% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 3,800 people, 1,243 households, and 1,024 families residing in the town. The population density is 48.5/km² (125.6/mi²). There are 1,365 housing units at an average density of 17.4/km² (45.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 95.13% White, 1.26% African American, 0.29% Native American, 1.05% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 1.13% from other races, and 1.11% from two or more races. 4.47% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,243 households out of which 44.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.2% are married couples living together, 7.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 17.6% are non-families. 14.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.04 and the average family size is 3.34.
