Grand Coulee is a city located in Grant County, Washington. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 897.

Geography Grand Coulee is located at 47°56'23" North, 119°0'6" West (47.939706, -119.001597)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.1 km² (1.2 mi²). 2.8 km² (1.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 7.56% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 897 people, 410 households, and 246 families residing in the city. The population density is 314.8/km² (816.9/mi²). There are 530 housing units at an average density of 186.0/km² (482.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 81.27% White, 1.11% African American, 12.49% Native American, 1.34% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 2.79% from other races, and 1.00% from two or more races. 4.91% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 410 households out of which 25.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.1% are married couples living together, 12.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.8% are non-families. 35.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.13 and the average family size is 2.71.

In the city the population is spread out with 22.5% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 20.4% from 25 to 44, 26.9% from 45 to 64, and 23.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 45 years. For every 100 females there are 92.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 80.5 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $21,818, and the median income for a family is $29,375. Males have a median income of $25,625 versus $18,125 for females. The per capita income for the city is $13,639. 19.3% of the population and 11.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 25.3% are under the age of 18 and 17.6% are 65 or older.
