Gods and Monsters is a 1997 film which tells the true story of the last days of the life of troubled film director James Whale. It stars Ian McKellen, Brendan Fraser[?], Lynn Redgrave, Lolita Davidovich[?] and David Dukes[?].

The movie was adaptred by Bill Condon[?] from the novel Father of Frankenstein by Christopher Bram[?]. It was directed by Condon.

It won the Academy Award for Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium, and was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Ian McKellen) and Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Lynn Redgrave).
