Gistel is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the city of Gistel proper and the towns of Moere[?], Snaaskerke[?] and Zevekote[?]. On January 1st, 2000 Gistel had a total population of 11,085 (5,470 males and 5,615 females). The total area is 42.62 km² which gives a population density of 260.09 inhabitants per km².
