Gibellina

Gibellina is a small city in the mountains of central Sicily, Italy. It was destroyed by an earthquake in 1968.

The new city, Gibellina Nuova, was rebuilt some 20 km far from the old one.

Ruderi di Gibellina (as now are called by some journalists the ruins of the city) remained just as it was after the earthquake, practically a ghost-town; around 1990, the ruins were covered with plaster to experiment on them some actually argued "art".
