Geraldine Richter, of
Fairfax,
Virginia, is an
orthopedic surgeon[?]. She received brief
media coverage after a
November 22,
1990,
drunk driving incident in which she had a
blood-alcohol level[?] of 0.13%, kicked a
breathalyzer[?], and attempted to kick a
cop. Richter was quoted as shouting, "You son of a [expletive]; you [expletive] can't do this to me; I'm a doctor. I hope you [expletive] get
shot and come into my
hospital so I can refuse to treat you, or if any other trooper gets shot, I will also refuse to treat them." All charges, against Richter, were dropped after a
gynecologist testified that she was suffering from
premenstrual stress syndrome.
