Georges Vanier

Georges-Philéas Vanier (1888-1967) was a Canadian diplomat who was Governor General of Canada from 1959 to 1967. After serving in World War I he entered the diplomatic service. During World War II he served as ambassador to all allied governments in exile in London. From 1944 to 1953 he was ambassador to France.
