Geoport

Geoport is the Apple Computer term for their computer's proprietary communications port[?] found on the 68K and Power Macintosh models, similar to the more common serial port but with faster data transfer rates. The port accepted either standard DIN-8[?] connectors or special DIN-9 types. It was widely used to fit a Geoport Telecom Adapter, a line adapter interface creating a passive modem device.

The telecoms adapter was announced in 1996 it was came in three types, two external pods (the TA and TA II) and an internal modem model all providing a simple RJ-11 adaptation. The internal adapters fitted in the Communication Slot II (CS II). Intially the adapter software could support speeds up to 28.8 Kbps, later upgrades introduced full V.34[?] compliance, running at up to 33.6 Kbps.
