Gantt chart

A gantt chart is a type of bar chart[?] developed by Henry L. Gantt[?] in 1917. It is a common way of showing tasks over time. It is often used in planning projects in which various stages of work are interdependent, or in which certain tasks depend on the completion of prior tasks, and is often helpful in determining the critical path.
