Free jazz

Free jazz is a style of music developed in the 1960s and pioneered by artists such as Ornette Coleman, Cecil Taylor, Sun Ra, and Albert Ayler. It uses jazz idioms but does not impose a strict sense of rhythm or harmony; the musicians improvise essentially everything.
