Fredrika Bremer

Fredrika Bremer, 1801-1865, Swedish writer and feminist activist. She was born in Turku in Finland but grow up in Stockholm. From 1849 she travelled for a couple of years, all by herself, in the US and Cuba, and was disappointed in the promised land, particularly slavery. Her novel Hertha remains her most influential work, it is a dark novel about the lack of freedom for women.
