Fred Quimby

Redirected from Frederick C. Quimby

Frederick C. Quimby (November 14, 1883 - September 16, 1965) was the producer of MGM animated cartoon division, which most notably included the Tom and Jerry team of William Hanna and Joseph Barbera.

He was a repeated recipient of the Academy Award for Animated Short Film for his Tom and Jerry films. This angered many of the creative staff like William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. They considered Quimby an untalented, lazy and obnoxious tyrant who constantly interfered with their creative decisions and yet got credit for their work.
