Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 33.8 km² (13.1 mi²). 32.9 km² (12.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.9 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.61% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 1,601 people, 629 households, and 481 families residing in the township. The population density is 48.6/km² (125.9/mi²). There are 679 housing units at an average density of 20.6/km² (53.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 99.56% White, 0.06% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.06% from other races, and 0.31% from two or more races. 0.87% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 629 households out of which 31.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.3% are married couples living together, 7.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.4% are non-families. 20.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
