Franklin is a borough located in Cambria County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 442.

Geography Franklin is located at 40°20'35" North, 78°52'55" West (40.343073, -78.881873)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 1.5 km² (0.6 mi²). 1.4 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.51% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 442 people, 204 households, and 130 families residing in the borough. The population density is 310.3/km² (798.7/mi²). There are 228 housing units at an average density of 160.1/km² (412.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 90.27% White, 9.05% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.68% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 204 households out of which 21.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.1% are married couples living together, 13.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.8% are non-families. 34.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 20.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.17 and the average family size is 2.70.

In the borough the population is spread out with 16.3% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 25.1% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 29.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 45 years. For every 100 females there are 98.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.8 males.

The median income for a household in the borough is $25,625, and the median income for a family is $29,531. Males have a median income of $25,625 versus $18,750 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $15,322. 10.7% of the population and 10.4% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 17.2% are under the age of 18 and 6.6% are 65 or older.
