Frédéric Bazille (1841 - 1870) was a brilliant young Impressionist painter, best known for his depiction of figures. His most famous work is a Family Reunion (1867-1868). Born to a wealthy family, he supported other artists, giving them space in his studio and materials to use. Bazille's promising career was cut short, when he was killed in the Franco-Prussian War.
