Forth Road Bridge

The Forth Road Bridge is a road bridge over the Firth of Forth in the east of Scotland, to the west of the Forth Rail Bridge.

Before the bridge was built, car ferries crossed the Firth of Forth between North Queensferry and South Queensferry.

The bridge was constructed in the 1960s and completed in 1964 when the Firth of Forth ferry ceased to operate. There had been a ferry there since the 11th century.
