Fort Ransom is a city located in Ransom County, North Dakota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 70.

Geography Fort Ransom is located at 46°31'16" North, 97°55'45" West (46.521154, -97.929141)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²). 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 70 people, 37 households, and 19 families residing in the city. The population density is 90.1/km² (233.1/mi²). There are 44 housing units at an average density of 56.6/km² (146.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 100.00% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 37 households out of which 18.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.2% are married couples living together, 5.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 48.6% are non-families. 48.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 27.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 1.89 and the average family size is 2.74.

In the city the population is spread out with 20.0% under the age of 18, 2.9% from 18 to 24, 20.0% from 25 to 44, 20.0% from 45 to 64, and 37.1% who are 65 years of age or older.
