Futsal

Redirected from Five a side football

Futsal is the indoor version of football (soccer) that is officially sanctioned by football's international governing body, FIFA. Other indoor football games, which are played by somewhat different rules, may be called indoor football, five-a-side football or indoor soccer. Those games predate the formulation of official rules of futsal. Futsal is also sometimes called by the same names.

In the United States indoor soccer has been played professionally for many years under a variety of rules, mostly in hockey arenas, in versions of the game that somewhat resemble hockey. In futsal there are no boards as there are in versions of indoor soccer and five-a-side football.
