Fishers Island

Fishers Island, New York, is a small island off the southeastern coast of Connecticut. Roughly nine miles long by no more than a mile wide at its widest point, Fishers Island is reachable by ferry from New London, Connecticut, and has a year-round population of between 200 and 300 people, residing at the western end of the island. The eastern two thirds or more of Fishers Island is accessible by a single private road, and is scattered with large summer estates. The population of the island rises by perhaps as much as 1000%, to 2000+, during the peak summer weekends.

Fishers Island has one oyster farm, two golf courses, two gas stations, a small air strip, several public beaches, and one restaurant/bar/nightclub/hotel/pool hall, The Pequot.
