Filter paper

Filter paper
Various grades of coarse unfinished paper, cut in circles, which can be used to separate solids from a liquid in which they are suspended. The filter paper is usually supported in a conical filter funnel[?], and must be folded or pleated to fit into it. The filter funnel is then supported over a suitable collection vessel, such as a conical flask. The suspension is then poured into the filter paper. Gravity and capillary action draw the fluid through the paper, leaving the solids behind.
