Born in Moscow in 1589, Feodor II was the son and 16 year old successor to Boris Godunov. Though he was physically robust and well-educated, the boyars who has supported his father's authority were unwilling to swear allegiance to him. In June 1605, a group of boyars seized control of Moscow and arrested the tsar. Feodor and his mother were murdered shortly afterwards.
