Faxanadu

Faxanadu is an adventure/RPG game for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It was produced for America by Hudson Soft[?], who licensed the title from Falcom[?]. The name Faxanadu appears to come from Latin: "Fax" and "Xanadu", meaning "False Paradise".

The story is as follows: A man walks towards a castle underneath the enormous, yet dying World Tree. Weak and weary, the man approaches the Elf town of Eolis, his hometown, to find its gate locked, the walls battered and torn, and few people remaining.

The man enters the town and sees the King, who tells him the Elf Fountain Water has stopped flowing. Without this water, the wells surrounding the World Tree have begun to dry up. Also, the Dwarves, an army of misshapen monsters, have begun invading the town. Many people have already gone to search for the cause of the problem, but no one has ever returned. Your job is to climb the World Tree to find the source of the troubles plaguing its inhabitants.
