FastCat Fiasco or Fast Ferries Fiasco was the name given to a BC NDP blunder which cost over $450 million. The BC NDP Government, with then premier Glen Clark spearheaded the construction of the disaster called PacifiCats which were designed to improve transport service from Horseshoe Bay[?] in West Vancouver[?] to Departure Bay[?] in Nanaimo[?].
The ferries cause or have the following problems
Gas Guzzlers
Not much improvement from conventional vessels
Created Tidal Wakes which damaged waterfront property
No Trucks allowed
