Fairview, Alabama

Fairview is a town located in Cullman County, Alabama. As of the 2000 census, the population of the town is 522.

Geography Fairview is located at 34°14'55" North, 86°41'16" West (34.248717, -86.687761)1.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 6.4 km² (2.5 mi²). 6.4 km² (2.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.40% is water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 522 people, 188 households, and 144 families residing in the town. The population density is 81.9/km² (212.1/mi²). There are 198 housing units at an average density of 31.1/km² (80.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 86.59% White, 0.00% African American, 0.77% Native American, 0.19% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 7.28% from other races, and 5.17% from two or more races. 16.28% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 188 households out of which 36.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.4% are married couples living together, 8.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.4% are non-families. 20.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.78 and the average family size is 3.06.

In the town the population is spread out with 23.4% under the age of 18, 13.8% from 18 to 24, 30.5% from 25 to 44, 17.6% from 45 to 64, and 14.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 33 years. For every 100 females there are 125.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 126.0 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $31,875, and the median income for a family is $37,500. Males have a median income of $21,944 versus $21,042 for females. The per capita income for the town is $13,817. 14.8% of the population and 13.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 26.0% are under the age of 18 and 11.6% are 65 or older.
