F. Van Wyck Mason

Born November 11, 1901 in Boston, MA Parents Francis Payne Mason and Ermagarde Arville Coffin Served French and U.S. Army WW I Officer, WW I Harvard Graduate Was mistakenly arrested for murder Married Dorothy L. MacReady, November 26, 1927 New York, New York Began writing 1928 Had two sons by 1932 F. Van Wyck Jr. and Robert Ashton Lived in Green Spring Valley MD 1932 Traveled to Europe, Russia, Near East, North Africa (9 wks with own caravan), West Indies, Central Africa, rode across Central America on horseback. Leisure activities include duck hunting, field shooting, polo, and deepsea fishing. Colonel, General Eisenhower's staff, WW II Van Wyck Mason lived in Bermuda for a long time in Southampton Parish. He considered Bermuda his adopted home. Died August, 28 1978 in Bermuda.
