Exeter Township, Wyoming County, Pennsylvania

Exeter Township is a township located in Wyoming County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 748.

Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 8.8 km² (3.4 mi²). 8.1 km² (3.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 7.94% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 748 people, 315 households, and 206 families residing in the township. The population density is 92.3/km² (239.0/mi²). There are 403 housing units at an average density of 49.7/km² (128.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 99.33% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.53% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.13% from two or more races. 0.40% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 315 households out of which 28.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.0% are married couples living together, 8.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.6% are non-families. 31.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.37 and the average family size is 2.98.

In the township the population is spread out with 22.1% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 29.0% from 25 to 44, 29.1% from 45 to 64, and 13.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 122.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 112.8 males.

The median income for a household in the township is $37,841, and the median income for a family is $47,574. Males have a median income of $31,719 versus $27,250 for females. The per capita income for the township is $17,792. 2.8% of the population and 1.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 2.9% are under the age of 18 and 2.0% are 65 or older.
