EUREKA

EUREKA is a Research and Development funding and coordination organization of the European Union founded in 1985.

EUREKA is targetted at market-oriented development. It does not partake in e.g.military research.

A well-known project that EUREKA has co-funded and cooperated in the project EU 147: creating include Musicam (used in DAB (Digital Audio Broadcast)) and ASPEC (Adaptive Spectral Perceptual Entropy Coding), which was used in a modified form in MP3.
