Dog's tooth violet.

Description
a genus of tuberous perennials, usually spring-flowering. They have attractive pendant flowers and mottled leaves and are hardy. Best grown in shade so that the tubers don't overheat or dry out.
Propagation
best by seed in autumn or by division of tubers.
Uses
the bulb is edible cooked or dried and can be ground into flour. The leaves can also be cooked.
