Edward Frederick Lindley Wood, Earl of Halifax, commonly referred to as Lord Halifax, (1881-1959) was a British conservative politician. He served as Viceroy of India (1926-1931), Foreign Secretary[?] (1938-1940) and Ambassador to the United States (1941-1946). As Foreign Secretary he was one of the leading opponents of British involvement in World War II.
