Edam-Volendam

Edam-Volendam (population: 27,833) is a municipality in the north-western Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. The municipality covers an area of 16.41 km² (of which 8.38 km² water).

The municipality of Edam-Volendam consists the following towns, villages and townships: Edam, Volendam.

Thirteen people died and 180 were injured (many with lasting scars) after Christmas decorations caught fire in a cafe packed with teenagers celebrating New Year in Volendam, on January 1, 2001.
