The purple coneflower, Echinacea purpurea, is a drought-tolerant perennial native to North America. It has large, daisy-like purple flowers with petals surrounding a large cone.
As a medicine, Echinacea is used to boost the body's immune system and fight off infection. The roots (fresh or dried) are the active part.
