Eau Claire is a borough located in Butler County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 355.

Geography Eau Claire is located at 41°8'7" North, 79°47'52" West (41.135335, -79.797914)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 3.5 km² (1.4 mi²). 3.5 km² (1.4 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 355 people, 135 households, and 105 families residing in the borough. The population density is 100.0/km² (258.4/mi²). There are 143 housing units at an average density of 40.3/km² (104.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 99.44% White, 0.28% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.28% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 135 households out of which 35.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.3% are married couples living together, 12.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.2% are non-families. 17.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.63 and the average family size is 2.90.

In the borough the population is spread out with 26.5% under the age of 18, 9.9% from 18 to 24, 32.7% from 25 to 44, 20.8% from 45 to 64, and 10.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 33 years. For every 100 females there are 98.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.2 males.

The median income for a household in the borough is $31,181, and the median income for a family is $32,083. Males have a median income of $29,125 versus $19,500 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $14,383. 15.3% of the population and 16.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 22.0% are under the age of 18 and 18.5% are 65 or older.
