Eatontown, New Jersey

Eatontown is a borough located in Monmouth County, New Jersey. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 14,008.

Geography Eatontown is located at 40°17'37" North, 74°3'24" West (40.293571, -74.056715)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 15.4 km² (5.9 mi²). 15.3 km² (5.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.17% is water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 14,008 people, 5,780 households, and 3,444 families residing in the borough. The population density is 913.6/km² (2,366.8/mi²). There are 6,341 housing units at an average density of 413.6/km² (1,071.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 73.29% White, 11.61% African American, 0.34% Native American, 9.32% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 2.31% from other races, and 3.10% from two or more races. 6.62% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 5,780 households out of which 28.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.8% are married couples living together, 9.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 40.4% are non-families. 33.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.35 and the average family size is 3.08.

In the borough the population is spread out with 22.9% under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 35.0% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 13.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 94.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 91.2 males.

The median income for a household in the borough is $53,833, and the median income for a family is $69,397. Males have a median income of $49,508 versus $35,109 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $26,965. 5.7% of the population and 3.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 4.3% are under the age of 18 and 9.2% are 65 or older.
