Dynamo theory

The dynamo theory of Earth's magnetic field is a theory which argues that the convection of molten iron and nickel, within the planetary core, along with the overall planetary rotation; result in the creation of electric currents and a magnetic field. The internal convection currents are similar to those, involving water vapor, within a thunderstorm.
