Drumore Township, Pennsylvania

Drumore Township is a township located in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the population of the township is 2,243.

Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 74.9 km² (28.9 mi²). 61.9 km² (23.9 mi²) of it is land and 13.0 km² (5.0 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 17.36% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 2,243 people, 739 households, and 597 families residing in the township. The population density is 36.2/km² (93.8/mi²). There are 819 housing units at an average density of 13.2/km² (34.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 98.75% White, 0.27% African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.27% from other races, and 0.53% from two or more races. 0.71% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 739 households out of which 38.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.7% are married couples living together, 5.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 19.2% are non-families. 16.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.04 and the average family size is 3.44.

In the township the population is spread out with 32.0% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 27.9% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 9.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 104.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 106.5 males.

The median income for a household in the township is $47,250, and the median income for a family is $51,645. Males have a median income of $36,366 versus $22,560 for females. The per capita income for the township is $17,470. 5.1% of the population and 4.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 7.2% are under the age of 18 and 6.5% are 65 or older.
