Driggs, Idaho

Driggs is a city located in Teton County, Idaho. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,100. The city is the county seat of Teton County6.

Geography Driggs is located at 43°43'31" North, 111°6'22" West (43.725210, -111.106005)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.7 km² (1.0 mi²). 2.7 km² (1.0 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 1,100 people, 386 households, and 252 families residing in the city. The population density is 408.4/km² (1,054.5/mi²). There are 449 housing units at an average density of 166.7/km² (430.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 83.73% White, 0.09% African American, 0.73% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.73% Pacific Islander, 13.64% from other races, and 1.09% from two or more races. 20.55% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 386 households out of which 38.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.6% are married couples living together, 7.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.5% are non-families. 23.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.83 and the average family size is 3.44.

In the city the population is spread out with 30.5% under the age of 18, 10.8% from 18 to 24, 34.6% from 25 to 44, 15.9% from 45 to 64, and 8.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 30 years. For every 100 females there are 112.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 114.3 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $33,750, and the median income for a family is $40,469. Males have a median income of $30,703 versus $19,722 for females. The per capita income for the city is $14,710. 11.2% of the population and 7.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 6.8% are under the age of 18 and 11.6% are 65 or older.
