Drawn on film animation

Drawn on film animation is an animation technique where footage is produced by creating the images directly on filmstock[?], as opposed to cel animation[?] where the images are created on separate sheets of plastic before being photographed onto filmstock.

The most famous practictioner of drawn on film animation is Norman McLaren, who produced numerous animated films using this method, including Begone Dull Care.
