Dr. Martens

Dr. Martens is brand of shoe, especially popular among young people. They are often known as "Doc Martens" or "D.M.s". They have a characteristic air-cushioned sole developed in Germany by Dr. Klaus Maertens (note the different spelling). Maertens sold his design to R Griggs Ltd of Northamptonshire, England, which started producing Dr Martens boots in 1960.

Pair of "classic" black leather Dr. Martens. Note the distinctive yellow stitching around the sole.
