Douglas is a city located in Cochise County, Arizona. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 14,312.

Douglas borders the town of Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico.

Geography Douglas is located at 31°20'42" North, 109°32'29" West (31.344911, -109.541376)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 20.0 km² (7.7 mi²). 20.0 km² (7.7 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 14,312 people, 4,526 households, and 3,453 families residing in the city. The population density is 715.8/km² (1,852.7/mi²). There are 5,186 housing units at an average density of 259.4/km² (671.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 63.20% White, 0.49% African American, 1.08% Native American, 0.44% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 31.81% from other races, and 2.90% from two or more races. 85.98% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 4,526 households out of which 42.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.1% are married couples living together, 22.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.7% are non-families. 21.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.07 and the average family size is 3.59.

In the city the population is spread out with 33.5% under the age of 18, 9.7% from 18 to 24, 25.0% from 25 to 44, 18.6% from 45 to 64, and 13.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 30 years. For every 100 females there are 92.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.1 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $20,567, and the median income for a family is $22,425. Males have a median income of $25,320 versus $18,447 for females. The per capita income for the city is $10,232. 36.6% of the population and 32.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 49.0% are under the age of 18 and 21.7% are 65 or older.
