In J. R. R. Tolkien's fictional world of Middle-earth, Doriath was the land of the Sindar. It was called the Fenced Land, for its queen, Melian, put a girdle of enchantment about it, so that nobody could enter without King Thingol's permission. It was destroyed by the Dwarves and the sons of Fëanor.
