Dodsworth

Dodsworth is a 1936 film. It is the story of a a retired automobile tycoon and his wife. Despite her husband's affection, she falls in with a crowd of frivolous socialites during their European vacation. He, in turn, meets a woman who is everything his wife is not; self-assured, self-confident, and able to take care of herself.

The film was adapted from the novel of the same name by Sinclair Lewis and a play by Sidney Howard[?]. Howard adapted it for the screen. It was directed by William Wyler.

The film stars Walter Huston, Ruth Chatterton, Paul Lukas, Mary Astor[?], David Niven and Maria Ouspenskaya[?].

The movie was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture and has been selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry.
